  the Homestead
The Homestead is currently 3 acres of meadow nestled between Dedmon's
Branch and Prairie Creek. There's a 75 year old haybarn currently in place,
climbing cliffs that are the remnants of a hill that was removed to use for a
dam next door, a fence line running parallel to the waterways and splitting
it pretty much into two sections, and big trees lining the whole thing.
Currently being used as our campsite- we have a fire pit, picnic area, and
outhouse already there plus some initial permanent plantings.
Native flowers include several types of daisy, and in the springtime
IndianPaintbrushes and bluebonets dot the homestead meadow. The front
of the meadow is covered in honeysuckle.
Prickly Pear cactuses, clovers, and dogwood are among the many other
'bloomers'.
Plans for the Homestead include-
-renovation of the barn
-re-establishment of the pond that was destroyed when they removed the hill
-construction of a series of raised bed gardens
-the entire mess that goes along with building human habitation including
well, septic, and getting a house up
-starting an orchard between the barn and the pond
-invention and realization of a Cavy Cave that will be safe, sanitary, and as
natural as possible for the Giddypigs
