Dedmon's Branch
Dedmon's Branch flows through the property from north
to south, separating the Wetlands from the Homestead.
Fed by springs, including the ones in the Wetlands,
Dedmon's Branch includes an area that used to be a
swimming hole for the local kids for several generations.
The construction of a private dam upstream destroyed
the swimming hole, but it's still the best place for little
waterfalls and big exploration. Also a popular place for
blue herons and small raptors.
Dedmon's Branch is lined with dogwoods, holly, and
several different ferns.
Plans for Dedmon's Branch include
-planting native vines and ferns along the banks to help
with erosion
-construction of a gazebo where the screen tent is now
sitting for a permanent retreat in Mom's Favorite Spot.
